G.I. Joe #7 Review - Time to hit the Beach

G.I. Joe #7 Review - Time to hit the Beach

After a fantastic first arc, Joshua Williamson treats us to the introduction of some of the coolest G.I. Joe characters. This standalone issue brings Beach Head and the Night Force team into the spotlight.

The pacing here is noticeably different from the previous six issues, but it perfectly matches the vibe Williamson has crafted for these characters. The opening pages feel like something straight out of Mission: Impossible—tense, stylish, and action-packed.

Beach Head’s characterization is compelling. We get a look at his internal struggle—feeling like he’s not good enough, fearing he’ll be cut from the team, and refusing to entertain the idea of mentoring someone new. All of this plays out as he infiltrates a mansion crawling with enemies, making for a layered and engaging read.

This issue also features a new art team—Andrea Milana and Lee Loughridge—who do a fantastic job bringing the story to life. Even though most of the comic takes place at night, the art is dark yet vibrant, full of energy and atmosphere.

Honestly, I wish this series released bi-weekly instead of monthly—I can’t wait between issues! Always at the top of my comic stack, every installment in the new G.I. Joe series set in the Energon Universe has been an absolute blast. Here's hoping we get some spin-offs soon—I’d kill for a Night Force miniseries.

Whether you've been reading G.I. Joe since it launched back in November or are just looking to jump in, this issue is an excellent entry point. The creative team at Skybound is absolutely killing it with the Energon titles.
