Hey everyone, welcome to the first issue of my newsletter, where I'll curate the most exciting happenings in the comics world. If you spot something cool or noteworthy, please leave a comment or reach out to me on social media—I'd love to help share visibility in the vast but often overwhelming comic news landscape.

I'm aiming to release one of these posts each week, and you can find an archive of them on MyComicCrate.com.

Ultimate Universe Says Goodbye

We've all heard by now that the Ultimate Universe is ending next year, but what you may not have heard is that this wasn't the original plan. While Jonathan Hickman intended to conclude his Ultimate Spider-Man run with issue #24, it was Marvel Comics publisher Dan Buckley who informed Hickman that the universe would be discontinued.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about this. The Ultimate Universe has been, in many regards, the comic series that both longtime and new fans were genuinely excited to pull each month. Still, it will be nice to look back on this era and appreciate what was a cohesive and highly entertaining universe while it lasted.

DC Comics and Vertigo Line

DC is cooking with everything they've got going, and to add fuel to the fire, we have some exciting new information about upcoming Vertigo titles! Below is just a taste of what we can expect from DC next year.

Necretaceous - An intriguing new story by Tom Taylor and Darick Robertson where "scientists attempt to time-travel to stop a zombie virus, only to land 66 million years in the past, among dinosaurs."

Black Tower: The Raven Conspiracy - When I heard rumors that Ram V was working on a new Vertigo title, I couldn't wait to learn more—and it sounds fantastic! "Wizard spies in the UK navigate a global cold war over sorcery, revealing a hidden world of occult power."

Swamp Thing - While not under the Vertigo banner, after 36 years, Rick Veitch and artist Michael Zulli are returning to complete their Swamp Thing run, which was originally cancelled by DC because the story they planned to write featured Swamp Thing time-travelling to the past to meet Jesus Christ. A wild premise to begin with, but I'm genuinely curious to see what their original vision was and finally see this story come to light.

My Pick of the week

Captain America #4 by Chip Zdarsky, Valerio Schiti and Frank Martin delivered a fantastic and brutal issue of Captain America. Tying in brilliantly with the One World Under Doom event, strong storytelling and fantastic artwork, the Captain America series right now is not a title you should be missing.
