The Comic Report 11/30/2025
Hi everyone! For those in the US, I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving and read plenty of comics! It's a short newsletter this week, as it's been a quiet week in the comic industry. With the holiday, things have slowed down a bit, but I've still got some great picks and news to share with you!
Assorted Crisis is doing something unique
Assorted Crisis Events is one of the best comics released in 2025, pushing the boundaries and depth comics can have, and issue #8 is doing something you don't see too often! To go with the story, the creative team decided to print this issue on newsprint. I'm excited to see the full story when it releases, and since it will only be printed for the floppy and not the trade, if you want to experience this issue the way it's meant to be read, you'll need to get your copy on January 21st.
Phillip Kennedy Johnson Signs Marvel Exclusive
Comic book writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson has signed a multi-year exclusive contract with Marvel Comics. Johnson has previously written some fantastic stories for Marvel. This isn't the only recent Marvel exclusive—just a few weeks ago, Brian Michael Bendis was announced to be returning to Marvel in 2026!
My Pick of the Week
DC K.O. #2 is my pick for this week. I've been loving the entire event, and issue #2 was another hit for me. The momentum from the first issue continues to build here, and I'm excited to see where this goes next. I wrote a full review on this issue earlier this week, so check it out if you haven't already!

- Scott Snyder is hosting a lecture on "Big Moments in Comics" with Ryan Stegman on December 3rd! Scott's classes are fantastic, especially if you're interested in writing your own comics. You can watch by subscribing to Best Jacket Press on Substack.
- Joshua Williamson, Scott Snyder, Chip Zdarsky, and other creators have been featured on the ComicPop Returns podcast this past week—definitely worth checking out!
