The Comic Report - December 7th 2025
Hey everyone and welcome to the Comic Report, where I collect the biggest comic book stories of the week and pack them all into one newsletter. Grab a hot chocolate, settle in with some comics, and let's dive into this week's news! As we approach the end of the year, things will likely get quieter in the comic industry as publishers and creators wind down for the holidays, but there's still plenty to cover.
DC Comics makes their first Instagram!

DC has always had an Instagram account, but it covered everything—movies, TV shows, games, and comics all thrown together. Now, DC has officially launched a dedicated DC Comics Instagram account focused solely on comic book content.
There weren't any major announcements with their first post, but this will certainly be a useful place to check for the latest DC comics news, previews, and updates. If you're a DC reader, it's definitely worth a follow!

Netflix buys Warner Bros. Discovery

You've probably heard the massive news by now: Netflix is purchasing Warner Bros. Discovery for $82.7 billion. (For context, that's approximately what my weekly comic haul feels like.)
Regardless of how you feel about corporate mergers, this is a big one with a lot of challenges ahead—and it could potentially reshape the DCU depending on what changes Netflix decides to make. I wouldn't expect anything drastic in the short term, but this is certainly something to keep an eye on as it develops. The implications for DC Comics, DC Studios, and the entire publishing landscape could be significant.

Mister Miracle TV Show Update

After what feels like an eternity since its announcement, we finally have some exciting updates on the upcoming DC show Mister Miracle! Tom King has confirmed that writing for the show is nearly complete, and even better—he's writing all the episodes himself and serving as showrunner. Having the original comic creator at the helm is always a great sign.
If you haven't already, go read King's phenomenal Mister Miracle comic book run. It's one of the best DC stories of the past decade and will give you a perfect foundation for what to expect from the show.

Toss a coin to your Witcher!

Geralt of Rivia is coming to a comic book store near you in 2026! Dark Horse Comics and CD Projekt RED are teaming up to release a comic book adaptation of The Last Wish, the fantastic short story collection that started it all. The 72-page hardcover graphic novel arrives in August 2026.
For those unfamiliar, The Last Wish is where author Andrzej Sapkowski introduced readers to Geralt and the world of The Witcher before the novels, games, and Netflix series. If you're a fan of any Witcher media, this adaptation is definitely one to keep on your radar!

Brand new Creepshow Comic!

Skybound has announced a brand new 5-issue spin-off in the Creepshow Universe—Super Creepshow! This limited series takes the classic horror anthology format and adds a superhero twist, blending two of comics' most popular genres. Releasing in March 2026, you won't have to wait long to see how horror and capes collide!

Dark Horse Announces Multi-Avatar Anthology Comic

Water, Earth, Fire, Air... and Comics! Dark Horse Comics has announced a brand new Avatar: The Last Airbender comic—Avatar Legends: Masters of the Elements!
This anthology collection will showcase multiple Avatars across different time periods, including Yangchen, Kyoshi, Roku, Aang, and Korra. Whether you're a fan of the original series, The Legend of Korra, or the newer novels, there's something here for every Avatar fan. Releasing July 14th, 2026, get your cactus juice ready—this looks to be an exciting addition to the Avatar comics library!

My Pick of the Week

Batman #4 by Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez is my pick of the week. While this issue is admittedly mostly setup, I'm very intrigued by the new Batman villain, the Minotaur.
Fraction is building something interesting here, and Jiménez's art continues to be absolutely stunning. Even in a slower, character-building issue, the mystery surrounding this new threat has me hooked.
Creator Spotlight
CGC Signing!

Scott Snyder, Nick Dragotta, Daniel Warren Johnson, and Jock are participating in a CGC Signature Series signing, so if you've got any Absolute Batman books (or other work from these creators), now's your chance to get them signed and slabbed!
Given the massive success of Absolute Batman and the secondary market heat on these issues, this is a great opportunity for collectors. Make sure to send your books in before the deadline!

New info on the upcoming DareDevil series!
New info on the upcoming Daredevil series! Writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Lee Garbett discuss their highly anticipated new Daredevil run, giving fans a glimpse at what's coming for Matt Murdock.
